Year 2 visit to The British Wildlife Centre

This week, Year 2 were lucky enough to enjoy a dry, sunny day at the British Wildlife Centre.  The keepers introduced us to a wide variety of British wildlife including Flo the fox, Elwood the otter and David the hedgehog.  We were fascinated to learn all about them and we are now using the knowledge gained from the visit to create non-fiction books about our favourite British animals.

Year 5 - Fire Safety Talk

Earlier on in the term, our youngest children learnt all about Fire Fighters as part of their ‘People who help us’ topic.  More recently, our older children had an excellent talk about fire safety led by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service. In the session, they covered:

¨ Re-cap calling 999

¨ The Fiery 5 – common fire hazards

¨ The importance of working smoke alarms

¨ Fire Escape Plans – how to prepare to escape a fire

¨ Stop, Drop and Roll for clothing fires

We are grateful to Surrey Fire and Rescue Service for taking the time to talk to the children in relation to something as important as this.
