The Great Outdoors

Last Friday, Year 1 and 2 had a fantastic day learning in our wonderful outdoor environment.

Year 1 held a fabulous Forest School Day made up of fun creative challenges set by Freddy the Fox, including creating clay tree faces, printing leaves in autumn colours on large sheets and making collages of Owls and Robins using Natural materials. The children were excellent at using their senses on a Nature Scavenger Hunt, as well as making messy mud paintings. The day was rounded off with spending some time reading in makeshift tents and singing camp songs altogether as a year group. It was a fantastic team building day and every child was able to 'Enjoy and Achieve'.

Year 2 played parachute games, used their special ‘music sticks’ to see what sounds different objects made, went on a Bear Hunt, made their own stickmen and went on a scavenger hunt too.  They also enjoyed being creative with nature by making their own ‘nature faces’ using natural materials.  All of the children had a great time and from all of the activities on offer voted the parachute games as their favourite activity.
